Regarding human rights violations by the government of the People’s Republic of China against Uyghurs in the Xinjian Uyghur Autonomous Region, we call on the government of the People’s Republic of China to accept investigations by the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights and other international organizations and to take necessary relief measures for the victims promptly if any human rights violations are recognized.

2 Our Foreigners’ Human Rights Relief Committee conducted multiple surveys from July through December 2021 by listening to people from the Japan Uyghur Association, an association of Uyghurs living in Japan, in its internal study sessions, holding legal consultation seminars for Uyghurs living in Japan, and conducting meetings to exchange opinions with the Japan Uyghur Association and so on.
4 Opinion submitted by the Kitakyushu City Assembly, for example:
According to the Japan Uyghur Association, during the period from March 2021 to April 2022, 96 local assemblies of 31 prefectures nationwide adopted an opinion regarding Uyghur issues calling on the government for action.
5 The Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action adopted by the World Conference on Human Rights in 1993 stipulates in the second sentence of Paragraph 4 that “the promotion and protection of all human rights is a legitimate concern of the international community.” Further, in response to the military invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, many bar associations as well as the Japan Federation of Bar Associations have issued President’s statements condemning the invasion by the Russian Army and calling for immediate withdrawal, etc.
